A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF HIMALAYAS AND DHARMASHALA

Himalayas, meaning the abode of snow in Sanskrit, are the range of mountains with mighty snow peaks, forming the northern border of the Indian subcontinent. Himalayas have been a great inspiration for the spiritual practitioners, yogis, saints and as well as Healers, from time immemorial. Experienced by many practitioners and yogis as a very powerful energy centres on the Earth, these sacred mountains have been inspiring many seekers till today.

Dharmashala is located in the North Indian state, Himachal Pradesh. Nestled below the mighty snow clad peaks of the beautiful Himalayan Dhauladhar mountain range, it is a wonderful location with an abundance of natural beauty and spiritual diversity.

Dharmashala is the spiritual headquarters of Buddhists all over the World. It is the home for H.H Dalai Lama, and the centre for Tibetan govt in exile. H.H.Dalai Lama has been living here along with his followers since 1959. His presence and the Tibetan population has made Dharamshala a popular destination for Indian and foreign tourists, including students studying Tibetan Culture.

Dharamsala and Mcleodgunj are twin towns located at lower and upper areas of that point of Himalayan Mountain range. Dharamasala is mainly populated by Locals. Mcleodganj is the abode of the H.H. Dalai Lama. Many Tibetans have their permanent settlements in this town and leading a peaceful life.

Bhagsunag and Dharmakot are twin beautiful hamlets located 2 k.ms away from Mcleodganj town . These two villages are relatively calm and quiet and give a conducive atmosphere for Yoga and Meditation practices. Hence, yoga and meditation learners chose to come here for their training.

ALTITUDE AND WEATHER: The altitude here is between 1,250 and 1,982 meters. In the months of April to July, the temperature is maximum 35 degree Celsius. The Monsoon season starts in July and lasts till September.

CLOTHINGS: In the Months of May and June, there will be little chill in the early hours of the day and at nights. We recommend you to bring a light jacket for a comfortable yoga/meditation practice. Otherwise, some light warm clothes would be perfect. Daytimes are often warm with comfortable amount of sunshine, pleasant weather, clear sky, beautiful scenery and nice people around.
